Winemaker and owner, Joe Semansky, Jr., started making wine as a hobby approximately 15 years ago when he created his first gold medal winner – “Muscat”. Joe was a professional horse trainer and traveled the country showing his and his clients’ horses, while making wine to enjoy during their travels. It was during this time people began suggesting to Joe this should be more than a hobby and he pursued this as a new and exciting career. Joe spent the next 4 years researching and developing new wines and designing his winery, which includes a tasting area and production area on the premises. During this development period, he continued to enter many amateur wine making competitions winning many gold, silver and bronze medals, which made him confident in pursuing his dream.

Construction of the winery started in the Fall of 2007 and was completed and opened February 7, 2009. The first bottle of wine sold was g spot©, which is a Riesling wine enhanced with a bit of Granny Smith apple. To date, this gold medal winner is still the top selling wine at Red Horse Winery.
